888 Poker Holding 2009 WSOP Play Off Series

As the 2009 World Series of Poker gets closer more and more online poker rooms are offering player’s options to earn a seat at various WSOP events. 888 Poker began their 2009 WSOP Play Off Series this weekend and it will continue each weekend until the end of the month of May.
Players have the opportunity to earn a $17,000 prize package to the WSOP to play against the best names in poker. All players have to do is play at 888 Poker and enter the $10 plus 1 buy-in tournaments. The tournaments take place every Sunday morning at 5am AEST with tournaments taking place on the 17th, 24th and 31st.
The top ten players will earn points that will help them make it to the private free roll that will be held on June 7th. The top ten will earn the following points:
1st place – 600
2nd place – 550
3rd place – 500
4th place – 450
5th place – 400
6th place – 350
7th place – 300
8th place – 250
9th place – 200
10th place – 150
Players who do not make the top ten will still earn points but it will only be fifty. At the end of the month the ten players with the most points will play in the private free roll which will begin at 5am AEST. The player who wins the private free roll will earn the large WSOP Main Event package which includes accommodations for ten nights, $2,500 in cash for travel expenses and $2,000 in spending money. The winner will also earn an invite to the 888 Poker VIP party.
The free roll will feature a prize pool of $17,000 with $3,000 added from 888 to bring the total prize pool to $20,000. This is an excellent opportunity for internet poker players to earn a seat to the WSOP Main Event for little money.

This past Sunday, Full Tilt saw a good turnout for both the $350K guaranteed Sunday Brawl tournament and the monthly $1 million guaranteed tournament. Players were ready to compete in both tournaments and players who made the final table in both tournaments were able to earn a nice pay day for their efforts.
The $350k Guaranteed Sunday Brawl had a really good turnout of 2,051 players that paid the $240 plus $16 buy-in to increase the prize pool to $410,200. 234 players earned cash for their efforts but it was FlopNutsOnYou and DurangoDan35 who would compete for the top prize.
Both wanted the $83,660 payday and fought hard to earn the prize. FlopNutsOnYou was unable to get past DurangoDan35 to take the win. DurangoDan35 earned the $83,660 payday while FlotNutsOnYou earned $54,146 for second place.

After the Sunday Brawl, players were logging on to compete in the monthly $1 million guaranteed tournament. Once a month, Full Tilt ups the guaranteed on their weekly $750K tournament to the million dollar prize pool. 1,984 players paid the $500 plus $35 buy-in to compete in the tournament and 306 spots were paid.
Players competing in the $1 million earned a larger pay day than the $350K guaranteed tournament. First place was set to earn almost $185,000. After final table play began it was clear to see that kalterrell and TheNutters would be competing in heads up play. Once heads up play began it would be online player, TheNutters who would emerge victorious and earn the large pay day.

Online poker room, Ultimate Bet, saw a good turnout for their weekly $200,000 guaranteed tournament. This tournament has a buy-in of $200 plus $15 and eight hundred and fifty three players entered the tournament vying for the first place prize.
After final table play began, several players would be eliminated until play got down to the last four players. EB_FARNUM, CHPSKRWD, HEDLEY_LAMAR and LUCKISASKILL would be the last four players left at the Ultimate Bet final table.
The first to go after four handed play began would be EB_FARNUM who would be followed by CHPSKRWD who finished in third. Heads up play poker would then begin between HEDLEY_LAMAR and LUCKISASKILL. The competition would be tough but LUCKSASKILL would hold the chip lead and get HEDLEY_LAMAR to go all in and then take the win on the final hand.

Spring has sprung and that means that PokerStar new tournament series is in full swing. The new Spring Championship of Internet Poker has begun and on the first day players were able to compete in event #1 with three different levels so players with different size bank rolls could participate. In event #1 41,916 players competed in the three levels of game play.
The lowest level had a buy-in of $5.50 with rebuys and six players were able to compete at each table of the no limit hold’em event. 27,134 players competed in this event and 45,438 rebuys and 14,434 additions were paid to change the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool to $435,030. Online Eetu100 did not have the chip lead going into final table play but he was able to gain more chips and take the win.

Fatboyflex Wins Inaugural PKR Saturday Big Shot

PKR Poker has started a new tournament series called the Saturday Big Shot. The new tournament runs every week for players to compete in twenty minute levels with 10,000 chips as starting stacks. Players can pay the $500 buy-in or hopefully win a seat by competing in satellites on PKR.com for as low as $5.
This past Saturday online player fatboyflex outlasted the field of seventy players to take over $10,000 in prize money. Fatboyflex has seen great success at PKR and he is only twenty years old. Fatboyflex recently won a PKR Open title as well as making several final tables in various tournaments.
Players will find various satellites throughout the week at www.PKR.com they can enter and participate in. Neil Wright the PKR Cardroom Manager commented: “The very first Saturday Big Shot has proved an attractive tournament for high rollers. Sunday is a busy, busy day for Full Tilt players as the online poker room has a wide variety of large tournaments that take place on Sundays. Players can have their pick of which large tournament they would like to enter and one thousand four hundred and forty one players chose to compete in last night’s Sunday Milligan.
The buy-in for the Sunday Milligan is $200 plus $16 so it is a little less than the Sunday Brawl, for those who are trying to save a little money. The prize pool gathered for last night’s event came to $288,200 and it was internet poker player braceb who took home the first place prize of $63,404.

FullTilt Poker.com hosted its flagship tournament this weekend, the Sunday $750k Guarantee, and as if the fates had chosen his nickname for him, “THE_GOLDMINE” routed an enormous field to claim the largest prize of $147,912.
4,188 participants took to the virtual felts to battle it out for their share of the guarantee, boosted to $837,600 by excessive entries. Hour after four, players fell to the way side as the most skilled competitors whittled their way to the final table.

The world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars.com, has released the schedule for the first annual Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). From April 2nd to the 10th, 2009, members of PokerStars will be able to participate in the 10-day All-Stakes Tournament Series, competing for massive guaranteed prize pools.
Featuring 22 events, with at least 2 events per day, the PokerStars.com SCOOP series will offer three buy-in levels to accommodate online poker players of all skill levels and bankroll sizes. Every participant will have a chance to earn major cash prizes with an overall guaranteed prize pool of $30 million up for grabs.
PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker will be hosting two High Rollers events throughout the online poker tournament series, including a $25,500 Heads-Up NL Hold’em tournament and a $10,300 High-Roller H.O.R.S.E. event. Other unique events along the series are an 8-Game Mixed Tournament, 6-Max NL Hold’em, Mixed Hold’em and 6-Max PL Omaha with 1 Re-buy and 1 Add-on.
