Poker players have been logging on in massive numbers at Full Tilt poker for the past few weeks to enjoy the large guaranteed tournaments. This past weekend so many players registered for the tournaments that over $200,000 total was added to the prize pools for the $750k guarantee and The Sunday Brawl.
The Sunday Brawl seems to be getting most of the action as of late. This event is a knockout tournament which has a buy-in of $240 plus 16. $40 of the buy-in goes toward the knockouts so if you knock a player out you get a reward. 2,448 players registered for this tournament which increased the regular $350,000 guaranteed prize pool to $489,600. That is an increase of $139,600!
Play was tough during the tournament and when online players titanfr59 and Cheryl45 got down to heads up play they would decided to cut a deal. The deal left both players earning nice prize and the eventual win would go to titanfr59.

the $750k guaranteed tournament had a good turnout as well with 4,126 players competing. This tournament has a buy-in of $200 plus 16 so the prize pool was increased by $75,200, not as large as The Sunday Brawl increase but still impressive. 585 spots would be paid in this tournament with first place earning over $145,000.

There would be no deal struck during this tournament so Kirbynator and ForEngland, the last two standing, would have to fight to earn a good prize. Kirbynator earned the chip lead and finally made a move when both were all in. ForEngland didn’t have the cards and would go out in second place, leaving Kirbynator to take home the $145,722 first place prize.

The High Roller event of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker has ended and it was online player Sumpras who came out victorious. 299 players paid the $10,300 buy-in and upped the $2 million guarantee to $2,990,000. Only thirty six players would cash out in this event with first place earning just over $611,000 and a champions bracelet.

Several Team PokerStars players participated in the event including Vanessa Rousso, Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate and Barry Greenstein, among many others. Although PokerStars was represented very well, only two members were able to finish in the money. Anton Allemann who finished in 10th place and John Duthie who made the final table.

The final table would begin with nine players and online player Sowerss would have the chip lead. During final table play Vanessa Rousso, the host, as well as Joe Hachem and Vicky Coren, popped in to chat up the players as they competed.

Exiting in ninth place would be DDBeast followed closely by John Duthie in eighth. Festivuss, KevBoyStar, Belabacsi and SCTrojans would follow, leaving BeLOWaBOVe, Sowerss and Sumpas to compete in three way play.

Sumpas would make a move on BeLOWaBOVe where both would end up all in. Sumpas rivered a straight on the hand and BeLOWaBOVe was out in third place. heads up play would then begin between Sumpas and Sowerss, with Sumpas in a strong lead.

Though Sowerss was down by almost 2 million chips he would fight hard and heads up play would last almost one hour. In the final hand the flop would show K-4-4 with Sowerss eventually moving all in. Sumpas called and showed his K-10 while Sowerss showed J-10. The turn was a 7 and the river a 3 which left Sowerss out in second and Sumpras to claim the victory.

The Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series kicked off with a bang last week and by the second day of the series it was clear to see that poker players were ready to compete. The second day of the series was the first on the schedule to offer two events and both events saw good turnouts to increase the guaranteed prize pools.
Event #2 was a No Limit Hold’em 4x Shootout 6 max event with a $300 plus $22 buy-in. 1,193 players registered to compete in the event which raised the prize pool from $250,000 guaranteed to $357,900, that is over $100,000 in cash increase!
The event was hosted by Scott Fischman but it was Red Full Tilt Pro David Pham who finished the highest out of the Full Tilt Pros. Pham finished in 32nd place earning $1,610.55. first place went to online player jive32 after he defeated CooLJohN22222 in heads up play.

Event #3 of the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series XIII was a $200 plus $16 Omaha/8 event hosted by Scott Clements. This event saw 1,086 players competing which increased the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool to $217,200. Not a large increase but still a good increase.
This tournament saw the final five players decide to divide the remaining prize money. So some players earned a larger payday but finished lower than other players. Second place went to Acesoverxxx who earned just over $21,000 while third place went to HelloCity who earned just over $32,000. It was HelloCity who earned the largest payday despite the third place finish.

The FIVE promotion came to an end this past weekend as Full Tilt upped the ante for their largest Sunday guaranteed tournament. The online poker room offered a $1.5 million guarantee this past weekend and 3,315 players registered to compete in the tournament.

The top prize was just over $295,000 so everyone was hoping to hold on and get to heads up play. When final table play began the chips totals were pretty close so it was anybody’s game. The two players who were out front in chips were sweepybreedy and HellaStacks who both had 3million+ and 2 million + respectively.

DiGTaLDeMoN was the first player eliminated when he went up against PAhrRK’s who held Pocket Queens to his Jacks. Ags104 was out next when he was called by HellaStacks who held a dominating A-K. The next few to go would be uRuGwa1, TheMasterJ33, Philbort and sweepybreedy leaving the last three players to duke it out before heads up play would begin.

HellaStacks was not looking good after he lost most of his chips to PAhrRK in one hand when both turned a flush and PAhrRK’s was better. HellaStacks would go out when he went up against PAhrRK again and his A-9 was no match for PAhrRK’s K-Q.

PAhrRK then began heads up play with blarkin but it would not last long. It ended when PAhrRK went all in with K-10 and was called by blarkin with A-9. The board ran K-3-4-10-9 and PAhrRK’s King gave him the win.

Absolute Poker’s $100k guaranteed tournament this past Sunday was one of the only tournaments online that saw an increase in the prize pool. Online poker rooms were not overly busy this weekend so it is surprising that Absolute saw a slight increase.

Two hundred and nineteen players registered for the tournament and after paying the $500 plus 30 buy-in players created a prize pool of $109,500. Twenty seven spots would be paid with first place earning $28,470.

Final table play would begin a good bit after play began with each player hoping to be the final player standing. When it came down to three way play, online players T8110, GASSITT and BINRICH were very busy holding their own to make it to heads up play. T8110 would not be able to hold on and would go out in third leaving the two players left to compete in heads up play.

After some time BINRICH would gain the chip lead and make a move. GASSITT would call and it would be all over as the cards fell for BINRICH and the win would be his. GASSITT earned $16,973 for second place while BINRICH took home the almost $30,000 first place prize.

Online poker players were back to the grind this weekend as the large guaranteed tournaments resumed at the online poker rooms. UltimateBet was one of the big poker rooms offering a large guaranteed tournament and many players logged on to compete. 

The $200k guaranteed tournament saw one thousand and twelve players posting the $200 plus $15 buy-in to compete in the tournament. Ninety nine places would be paid so everyone was trying to get in the top spots. 

This time around the number of players increased the prize pool just a bit, $2,400, so players finishing in the money would just a bit more, which is always good. Nine players made the final table but it would be KUSH99, BADGEPRO and NOTAJGREEN who would compete in three handed play, working their way to the first place finish. 

The first one to go for a big win was KUSH99 who would go all in trying to gain some extra chips and make heads up play. But it was not to be and KUSH99 would go out in third. This left BADGEPRO and NOTAJGREEN to compete in heads up play. 

Heads up play would not last very long once NOTAJGREEN gained the chip lead. On the final hand NOTAJGREEN and BADGEJPRO would both go all in but it would be NOTAJGREEN’s cards that would hold up and gain the online poker pro the win.

The Full Tilt $25k Heads Up World Championship took place this past weekend with sixty three players competing for the half a million plus first place prize. Some of the best names in internet poker competed in the event but they were unable to make it far in the competition. It was Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin who managed to hold on and be declared the winner.

The final four of the competition was David Benefield, Jim “WinnerFish” Kilarjian, Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin and Blair “yogiblair” Anderson. The four returned at 4:00ET on Sunday to begin a new round of heads up play after each had their own string of wins.

Blair Anderson defeated Negrodamus2, Scott Montgomery, dingepling and Alex Keating to move on to the final four while Ashton Griffin defeated GrindMode, Isaac Haxton, David Singer and Past. Jim Kilarjian defeated PureCash25, Steven Jacobs, Mirttinur and Rob Akery to move to the final four competition while David Benefield defeated Rafe Furst, DarkHorse19, DjAdi and IvanLendL in heads up play.

When final four play began Ashton Griffin faced Blair Anderson while David Benefield faced Jim Kilarjian. Griffin created a substantial chip lead over Anderson at 5 to 1 which helped him take the win. On the final hand Griffin held Q-Q against Andersons 5-5. Griffin’s pair was better and moved him to the final match of heads up play.

Benefield got down in chips while playing Kilarjian only to regain the lead a short time later. With the lead Benefield  held pocket Jacks to Kilarjian’s Q-9. Kilarjian went all in and Benefield called and his Jacks held up and he moved on to play Griffin in the Championship match.

When play began Benefield took a good lead only to lose it a short time later. Griffin soon doubled up again and held a good lead against Benefield. On the final hand Benefield went all in with 8-6 as he was trying for a straight draw and was called by Griffin who held pocket nines. This was big trouble for  Benefield as the board read 7-9-9. The turn and river card were no help for Benefield and he was out in second place with the win going to Griffin.

The PokerStars Russian Poker Tour stop in Moscow has ended and Vitaly Lunkin of Russia was able to outlast the field and take the first place win of the tournament. The event started out with 206 players posting the $7,000 buy-in to compete and by the time final table play began all players seated at the table were from the native land of Russia.
When final table play began Evgeny Onishuk an online PokerStars qualifier was the first to be eliminated after he raised with 7-6. He was re-raised by Ivan Demidov who had pocket tens. Onishuk called and the flop fell 9-7-4 and Demidov raised again which Onishuk called but quickly learned that Demidov had the higher pair. Onishuk was out in ninth place.
Alex Kravchenko would go out next when he went all in against four other players. Three folded and Lunkin stayed in to try his luck against Alex. Lunkin’s pocket jacks bested Alex’s 7-4 and he was out in eighth.
Dmitry Vitkind would be next followed by Ivan Demidov, Sergey Artamonov, Oleg Shamardin and Alexander Khoustov. This left Vyacheslav Goryachev and Lunkin to compete in heads up play. The blinds sat at 20,000/40,000 so heads up play would not last very long. Lunkin held a significant lead with 2,790,000 chips to Goryachev’s 310,000. On the final hand Goryachev went all in with A-6 and was called by Lunkin who had pocket tens. The board came Q-8-6-4-8 and Lunkin was named the winner.
